「環境問題と社会起業家」国際シンポジウム 開催報告 International Symposium on "Environmental Issue and Social Entrepreneur"

3月15日（土）、東京工業大学（田町キャンパス）にて、「環境問題と社会起業家」国際シンポジウムが開催されました。 開催案内は、こちらをお願いします。 International Symposium on "Environmental Issue and Social Entrepreneur" was held in the Institute of Tokyo Technology (TiTech) on Saturday, the 15th of March.

渡辺孝東京工業大学教授から、開会挨拶です。 Opening speech was made by Prof. Takashi Watanabe (Titech).

ソヒニー・バタチャリア（アショカ財団ニューデリー事務所　南アジア局長）氏から、基調講演がありました。 Ms. Sohini Bhattacharya, Director of Partnerships for South Asia, Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, delivered the keynote speech.

アティック・ラーマン（パキスタン・NPO都市環境研究センター）氏から、パキスタンでの水質汚染を改善する自らの社会起業について、説明がありました。 Mr. M. Atiq ur Rahman (http://www.uderc.com/index.html) made a speech about his social enterprise to improve the quality of water in Pakistan.

パネルディスカッションでは、村瀬　誠（雨水博士・NPO法人雨水市民の会 事務局長）http://www.skywater.jp/、小木曽麻里（ファーストブルー有限責任組合 代表、世界銀行多国間投資保証機関MIGA東京事務所長）http://www.firstblue.net/、ソヒニー・バタチャリアhttp://ashoka.org/の諸氏から、「日本の社会起業家に期待すること」というテーマで、日本の事例を交えながら、討議を行いました。 Dr. Makoto Murase (NPO People for Rainwater, http://www.skywater.jp/index_e.html), Ms. Mari Ogiso (FirstBlue, http://www.firstblue.net/), and Ms. Sohini Bhattacharya (Ashokahttp://ashoka.org/) made a panel discussion about "Expectation to Social Entrepreneurs in Japan."

会場は定員の100人を越える参加者で、活発な質疑が行われました。 Over 100 people attended. It was so many people that some people could not be seated.

後援者挨拶で、NPO法人ETIC.の加瀬さんhttp://www.etic.or.jp/から、ご挨拶がありました。 Mr. Kase, NPO ETIC.http://www.etic.or.jp/, made a greeting at the end of the symposium. 

シンポジウムを通じて、筆者に印象深く残ったのは、日本は開国できる、という事です。 What I was impressed in the symposium was that it is possible for us Japanese to open our country with open-minded.

つまり、シンポジウムでは、英語によるスピーチも多かったですが、質疑応答で、日本人が流暢に英語を使って、海外や国内の課題について論じられました。 国際的視野で、論じる場が生まれていました。　 In the symposium many speeches are delivered in English. But some Japanese participants spoke fluent English in Q&A. A place where people discuss with international point of view was created.

私たちの国は鎖国している、と筆者自身感じてきましたが、開国するきっかけがあれば、容易に開国できる民力が、日本にはあると思いました。  In my daily life I was feeling "Our country Japan is closing our country." But if some opportunity is generated, then our country can open our country easily by citizen power.
